Muriel Spark was an influential figure in literature of course, but her influence extended to the worlds of fashion, cinema, the visual arts and pop culture. We have developed an engagement programme with arts schools across Scotland and gave the opportunity to Illustration, Design and Animation students to create new work influenced by Dame Muriel’s work and/or life. An incredible variety of creative responses were submitted by students for this project. Discover them below.
Participating schools include:
Edinburgh College of Art – First Year Design Students & Master Animation Student;
Gray’s School of Art (Aberdeen) – Second Year Communication Design students;
Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (Dundee) – Final Year Illustration Students.
A few of these designs and illustrations have been selected by a panel and will be displayed on screen at the National Library of Scotland from 9 to 13 May 2018.
